London is the city that runs on beer! We’ve hundreds of must-visit bars and pubs, and so many excellent beery events take place every month, that you might even call London the beer capital of the world.
Let’s take a look at some of London’s best craft beer events for 2019. Add these to your beer calendar and look forward to a year of beery wonder!
North London Brew Fest
Held over three nights, you’ll find over 20 craft beers from microbreweries across the UK. And if you love your food like you love your beer, you’re in for a treat. We especially like the sound of Friday’s beer and cheese pairing.
When: Thursday 31st January to Saturday 2nd February
Where: Snooty Fox, 75 Grosvenor Avenue, London, N52NN
South Norwood Beer Festival
Relatively new on the scene, this is the 3rd year for CAMRA’s South Norwood Beer Festival. So popular last year that it ran out of beer a day early, get down there quick. It’s only a few quid entry so what have you got to lose?
When: Thursday 7th to Saturday 9th February
Where: Stanley Halls, 12 South Norwood Hill, London, SE25 6AB
Stokey Beer Fest
Now into its 3rd year, get over to North London and support the Stokey Beer Fest. If you’re like us, you’ll love this. Discover the new and emerging talent in the UK brewing scene alongside some of London’s (and our) favourites.
When: Friday 8th February
Where: Abney Public Hall, 73A Stoke Newington Church Street, London N16 0AS
Beer & Cheese Tasting with Wild Beer Co.
If there’s one thing we love almost as much as craft beer, it’s cheese. Get yourself over to Wild Beer Co. where their brewers will teach you all about both (and you’ll get to try them too). This is the stuff that dreams are made of.
When: Wednesday 20th February
Where: Strongroom Bar & Kitchen, 120-124 Curtain Road, London, EC2A 3SQ
Craft Beer Rising
Beer. Music. Street food. Do we really need to say any more? With over 90 breweries signed up, you’ll probably want to make notes. Or just go wild and enjoy yourself. Either way. We’ll probably see you there!
When: Thursday 21st February to Saturday 23rd
Where: The Old Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane, London E1 6QL
Uppers & Downers
Coffee and Beer. I’m in.
Held around the world since 2013, Uppers & Downers held their first London festival last year and are already back for more. We’re really excited about this one.
When: Saturday 19th May
Where: Mick’s Garage (Opposite CRATE Brewery Taproom) Queens Yard, Hackney Wick, London, E9 5EN
Potters Bar Beer Festival
For more of a family day out, head to the Potters Bar Beer Festival. If cover bands and bouncy castles are your thing, you’re in luck! Try one of their 35 real ales, ciders or enjoy the summer with a Pimms (no judgement here).
When: Saturday 20th July
Where: The Pakex Stadium, Parkfield, Watkins Rise, Potters Bar, EN6 1QB
Great British Beer Festival
A big date in the CAMRA calendar for over 40 years, expect a huge range of beers from those you’ve heard of and those you haven’t. Expect an emphasis on cask ales alongside some blues, rock and maybe even a brass band.
Featuring: While the beers aren’t yet confirmed, you can expect hundreds of different beers from around the country.
When: Tuesday 6th to Saturday 10th August
Where: Olympia London
London Craft Beer Festival
A very nice venue, very nice food and very nice beer. Tickets include all your beer – interested now aren’t you – for 5 hours. Choose from their five 5-hour sessions including their Opening Session, Big Night Out and Sunday Funday. Or get all round access with the Beer Geek Weekender, if you think you can handle it.
Featuring: Breweries TBC
When: Friday 9th to Sunday 11th August
Where: Tobacco Dock, E1W 2SF
With some major hiccups last year when half of the breweries dropped out after Beavertown’s controversial Heineken investment, we’ll have to wait and see if we can expect the return of Beavertown Extravaganza for 2019.
If they are back you can expect lots of beer, lots of food and some insights and debates within the world of craft beer.
When: September. Maybe.
The London Bierfest
Oktoberfest in Old Billingsgate Market! London’s been dancing, drinking and enjoying the London Bierfest for over 15 years and there’s no sign of stopping. It’s not for the faint-hearted with over 2000 visitors a day, unlimited steins of Bitburger beer, Oompah bands and full table service – get ready for the authentic experience.
Featuring: Bitburger beer including Bitburger Premium Pilsner, Konig, Wernesgruner and Benediktiner
When: Thursday 17 to Friday 18 October
Where: Old Billingsgate Market, Lower Thames Street, London EC3
